SugarDVD Offers to Boost 50 Cent’s Sales Slump

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Online adult movie rental and video-on-demand provider SugarDVD.com is ready to throw its support — and money — behind 50 Cent in his simmering feud with Kanye West.

In a war of words with fellow rapper West, 50 Cent has vowed to stop releasing solo albums if West’s new record “Graduation” topped his “Curtis” on the Billboard charts. Both albums were released on the same day. At press time, 50’s disc lagged hundreds of thousands of units behind West’s.

In an effort to keep 50 in the rap game, SugarDVD.com CEO Jax has offered to buy 250,000 copies of “Curtis.” In return, Jax is requesting that 50 wear a SugarDVD.com T-shirt for one year.

Jax’s assistant Angie told XBIZ that the company is in contact with 50 Cent’s manager in an effort to make the deal happen. SugarDVD.com stipulates that 50 must wear the shirt “in all situations. In hot tubs, on video shoots, walking down the beach you name it. All 50 has to do is agree to wear the T-shirts and he’s back [on top].”

SugarDVD.com is no stranger to the world of celebrity promotions.

In August, rap artist and reality TV star Flava Flav accepted a lifetime membership to SugarDVD.com, joining celebrities Tori Spelling and Adam Carolla who are part of the club. The company also engineered an aborted bid for MTV star Lauren Conrad’s sex tape and offered “American Idol” reject Antonella Barba $500,000 to become the company’s spokesmodel. SugarDVD.com also bid on the Kim Kardashian sex tape, which Vivid Entertainment ultimately bought and released earlier this year.

The story appeared on TMZ.com and VH1.com, as well.
